| Instansi | Using monthly rainfall data taken from 178 rain gauges distributed over Java Island since 1961, rainfall variability in Java Island is analyzed in inter annual and monsoonal time-scale. Time series of yearly rainfall amount shows large variability with maximum rainfall amount is 3700 mm and its minimum is 1600 mm. However, decreasing tendency of rainfall amount is found. Even, since 2001 yearly rainfall amount is always less than 2500 mm. Historical rainfall amount in Java Island shows the monsoonal pattern with maximum peak of rainfall amount is January (406 mm), while minimum peak is August (42 mm). Using definition from Indonesian Agency for Meteorological Climatological and Geophysical (BMKG), dry season for Java Island is May to September, and wet season is October to April. However, standard deviation of rainfall is large. Number of dry month shows increasing. Dry season onset shows tendency to be early. |
