Pelestarian Hutan Mangrove melalui Pendekatan Mina Hutan (Silvofishery)Indonesia contains about one-third of the world?s total mangroves areas, but experts say more than half of the country?s mangrove forest have been destroyed since the 1940s. The main sustainable alternatives to coastal aquaculture pond development within or associated with mangrove are silvofisheries and mariculture. Silvofishery is a form of integrated mangrove tree culture with brackish water aquaculture. This integrated approach to conservation and utilization of the mangrove resource allows for maintaining a relatively high level of integrity in the mangrove area while capitalizing on the economic benefits of brackish water aquaculture. Traditional models of silvofishery is the Empang Parit model, which is sometimes reffered to as Tambak Tumpangsari, was developed in Indonesia, tracing its roots back perhaps over a thousand years. The modern version of Empang Parit is today being promoted by the Indonesian Ministry of Foretry and the Directorate General of Fisheries. Silvofisheries have been successfully developed in Indonesia such as in Sinjai (Sulawesi), Cikeong (West Java), Pemalang (Central Java), and Bali.Mangrove, tsunami, silvofishery, IndonesiaKusno Wibowo dan Titin Handayani

Laju Degradasi Surfaktan Linear Alkil Benzena Sulfonat pada Limbah Deterjen secara Anaerob ?Linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) represents one of active substance of surfactants in detergents of which in high concentrations may cause environmental pollutions. The aim of the research was to know the efficiency of exclusion of LAS and the rate of LAS degradation in detergent wastes by the anaerobic process at fixed bed reactor equipped with cross flow material. This research was done in Process Laboratory of Balai Teknologi Lingkungan BPPT PUSPIPTEK Serpong. Reactor operation was done through continuous process with close circulation, up flow and 5 hours Rate Time Hour (RTH). Exclusion of LAS of detergent waste was recorded for 17 days. The degree of acidity after the process without inoculum (P1.0) was to 8.45, and for an anaerob condition with added inoculum (P1.1) was 7.88. The efficiency of the highest exclusion of CO soluble was equal to 80.96% (P1.1) with effluent 476 mg/L, and 76.81 % (P1.0) with effluent 531 mg/L. The exclusion of LAS of detergent wastes was 99.19% (P1.1) with LAS effluent equal to 17.51 mg/L and 98.3% (P1.0) with LAS effluent equal to 27.84 mg/L. The maximum rate of LAS surfactant degradationunt 0.95 ppm/day (P1.1) and 0.44 ppm/day (P1.0).detergent, LAS, fixed bed reactor, anaerobic, degradation, exclusion efficiencyR. 324Uji Toksisitas 2 Jenis Surfaktan dan Deterjen Komersial Menggunakan Metode Penghambatan PertumbuhanIn this experiment, Lemna sp. was exposed to surfactants LAS and ABS and a commercial detergent following method described by OECD. In the test, 10 fronds of Lemna sp. were grown in a modified MS medium containing the surfactants and detergent in the concentration of 0 ppm to 79 ppm and incubated for 7 days under continuous fluorescence lamps. The EC50 values of the detergent and surfactants vary depending on the compounds and the testing parameter. For LAS and ABS, the value of EC50 from number of fronds is higher than EC50 from the total chlorophyll content, i.e. 14.83 and 14.36 mg/l for LAS and 11.75 and 7.56 mg/l for ABS, respectively. However, the total chlorophyll content is not sensitive for commercial detergent ?A? and results in a higher EC50 value of 31.53 mg/l. LOEC values for LAS and ABS is 5 mg/l respectively, and is 25 mg/ for detergent ?A?.Lemna, detergent, surfactants, EC50Budhi Priyanto
Uji Penyisihan Kadmium (Cd) dari Pasir TerkontaminThe experiment is trying to apply an alternatif method in remediation electrokinetic by inserting conductive solution between cathode and treated soil. This is purposed in keeping the pH in low condition and preventing the precipitation of heavy metals in the soil adjacent to the cathode that often happen in the previous electrokinetic methods. Concentration of Cd (C0), period (t), concentration of conductive solution were selected as parameters, with artificially contaminated sand. The experiment with sand/ soil C0 = 100 ppm gave lower efficiency at 15,98% when it compares with C0 = 400ppm in the same condition and 24 hours period at 44,18%. Concentration of KCl also influenced the performance of system which was shown by the increasing in removal efficiency as refer to the previous experiment. Teoritically as pH of soil decreases the mobility of Cd is increases. This is due to Cd desorption is higher in the low pH. The alternatif method here have to deep in search if would application in the natural soil.Contaminated soil, Cadmium (Cd), ElectromigrationWahyu Purwanta

Beberapa Aspek Pengelolaan Cagar Alam Rawa Danau sebagai Sumber Air bakuEconomically, Rawa Danau is important fresh water source for cities of Cilegon and Serang and industrial estates in the area. Ecologically, Rawa Danau is the last and the only mountainous freshwater swamp still exists in Java island. In the last decade there are several studies that recommend increasing the capacity of Rawa Danau as water storage. Recently, the Master Plan of Rawa Danau has been published by the Province of Banten Planning Agency. It is concluded that increasing the water level in Rawa Danau by 2 meters would satisfies the 2010 projected water demand in Serang and Cilegon. We belief that the action could endanger the existence of both the swamp forest and the rice field in the vicinity. In this paper we describe an alternative action that could increase the water storage capacity of Rawa Danau whilst the ecological function of the swamp could be preserved as well.Rawa Danau, mountainous freshwater water sourceBudhi Priyanto dan Titiresmi
Konsentrasi Senyawa Dimetilsulfida di Pantura Jabar dan Kemungkinan Dampaknya pada Produksi UdangShrimp culture has became one of the most important Indonesian export commodity since 1985 up to the beginning of 1990`s. Due to the increasing intensification, the pressure on the shrimp ponds environment has became a serious problem. The problem was indicated by the decrease in shrimp production since 1992. Dimethylsulfide (DMS) is known as a major contributor to total sulfur emission from land and coastal marine and also known to inhibit nitrification .In this respect, we are studying the influence of DMS on nitrification process in saline water. This paper describes the DMS concentration observed in several places in the Western Coast of North Java. The minimum and maximum concentrations observed were 790.32 ?M and 6483.87 ?M respectively. These figures are higher than concentration detected in any other coastal area where shrimp productions are concerned. We speculate that DMS has given some contributions in the depletion of shrimp production.Dimethylsulfide (DMS), nitrification, shrimp cultureWage Komarawidjaja

Kajian Status Waduk Tirta Shinta dan Kelayakannya untuk Industri Ethanol di Kotabumi Lampung UtaraPT. Medco Ethanol Lampung has been constructed factory for cassava and mollase processing in order to product Rectified-Ethanol at Talang Jali Village, Kotabumi North Lampung. The estimation of capacity production is around 190.000 liter per day. Maximum necessity of fresh water for factory operasional is about 8.507 m3/hari. For the measurement depth and water volume Tirta Shinta Reservoir get the volume is about 3.155.434 m3 with the avarage depth for 1 ? 6 meter, while the discharge of water at outflow for agricultural is about 138.270 m3 per day at rainy season. If the water from Tirta Shinta reservoir use for main factory, and the total capacity reservoir only used 4.3 %, if nothing flow from river because dry season, and now Tirta Shinta reservoir can be supply only 17.7 month during dry season. Based on the environmental aspect, if better, a fresh water supply for ethanol factory from river has a big rate of flow. This present, beside for farming activity and tourism, the most of surface water reservoir covered by water plant that make problem for factory operational, specially for water pumpvolume water, factory, water balanceAgung Riyadi
Contribution of the Organic Waste from Fish Culture on the Degdardation of Water Quality of CirataCirata is one of three reservoirs lay in Citarum River, where the water body is used to fish culture in floating net. Lately, one or two times in a year, fish in the floating net die massly because of the water quality of reservoirs have worsen, which resulted from the entering of organic pollutant from human being activities in and outside of the Reservoir. This paper is written to reveal contribution of organic waste from fish culture in floating net represented human being activities inside of the Reservoir on the worsening of water quality Cirata. The result revealed that the Reservoir Cirata continually has been polluted by organic waste, which gradually resulted in the worsening of water quality indicated by increasing chemical oxygen demand (COD) and concentration of chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), and decreasing secchi disk. This study indicated that on 1997, fish culture using floating net (internal loading) in Reservoir Cirata contribute the nutrient three times than domestic and agriculture (external loading). This situation is guessed still going on hitherto, therefore the reservoir become very hypertrophic, as giant cesspools, and resulted in death of fish masslyCirata, organic waste, fish culture, water qualityYudhi Soetrisno Garno

Kondisi Pencemaran Logam Berat Di Perairan Sungai DKI JakartaRiver is a place where people do their cleaning activities and one of drinking water source and also where we could find fish. But nowadays river condition in Jakarta area are seriously polluted. The reasons of water pollution are not only domestic waste but also from industrial waste, factories take out their waste to the river without proccessing it first. One of the pollution materials is heavy metal which could have bad effect on human body. This paper analyses every element of heavy metal contain on rivers in DKI Jakarta area.Pencemaran, sungai, logam berat, DKI JakartaSatmoko Yudo
Pencemaran Air Dan Strategi PenanggulangannyaThe rapid growth of population in developing country causes environmental contamination by increasing significantly pollution load in river and other water body. It needs efficient and effective strategy to overcome contamination in certain areas. Technical identification of pollution source and its influence to environmental quality is important to should be known and socialized to community. Land use to is important to get priority and should be managed consistently environmentally sound, beside solid waste and domestic wastewater. Law enforcement also should be applied, especially to company or industry which significantly gives contribution to environmental degradation. Environmental restoration need fund, so government as regulator need partner from private to overcome environmental problem. Environmentally based industries and services is needed to be developed as government counterpart, but up to now the development of them retarded caused by non competitive interest of commercial bank. Environmental fund should be collected from polluter through regulated mechanism and In the next future environmental bank should possible manage the fund and finance environmental industry and services to overcome environmental pollution, in this case government act as regulator only.Pencemaran air, pengelolaan, sumber daya air, strategi penanggulanganArie Herlambang
Aplikasi Proses Biofiltrasi Dan Ultrafiltrasi Untuk Pengolahan Air MinumTo reduce the organic substance and ammonia in raw water hence raw water from river have to be processed by pretreatment prior to main processing unit. One of the alternatives is biological treatment using submerged biofilter which filled with honeycomb plastic supporting media. Research conducted by operating continuous flow biofilter reactor wich filled with honeycomb plastic supporting media. The size of biofilter reactor is 59 cm x 30 cm x 210 cm, with total volume 371.7 litres. The research was conducting by continuous operation under condition 4 hours, 3 hours, 2 hours and 1 hour retention time. The result of experiment shows that within the biofilter process under conditions 4 hours, 3 hours, 2 hours and one hour retention time, the removal efficiency of organic substance were 67.27 %, 53,89 5,45.70 % and 30.92 % respectively. And the removal efficiency of ammonia under conditions 3 hours, 2 hours and one hour retention time were 73.59 %, 67.98 %, and 48.74 % respectively. The longer retention time has resulted in higher removal efficiency. By combining biofiltration process with ultra fltration (UF) membrane technology, hence will be got technological alternative of drinking water process which able to degrade an organic matter and ammonia without chemicals instead of convensional process.biofiltasi, membran, ultra filtrasi, air minumNusa Idaman Said

Paket Teknologi Pengolahan Air Limbah Rumah Sakit Yang Murah Dan EfisienWastewater coming from hospital represents one of the very potential sources of water contamination. This matter is caused by hospital wastewater contanined a lot of organic compound, and of other chemical compounds, and also patogen microorganism which able to cause disease to society. Because of potential impact of hospital waste to health of society is very big, hence hospital wastewater have to process until fulfill conditions according to effluent standard. One of the alternatives to overcome the problem is by using technology processing of wastewater with process of biofilter anerob-aerob. The anaerob-aerob biofilter process have some excellence for example its simple operation, yielded a few or little of mud, can be used for the processing of waste water with low concentration and also high concentration, hold up to fluctuation of debit or concentration, and also its cheap operating expenses.Air limbah, rumah sakit, teknologi pengolahan, biofilter, anaerob-aerobNusa Idaman Said
Teknologi Pengelolaan Limbah Cair Pabrik Kelapa Sawit Yang IdealThe number of crude palm oil factory (CPOF) in Indonesia has already increased rapidly in the last fifteen years. In the same period, expansion of the palm plantation has also been continuing and growing, but unfortunately the accelerated growth is not same as the development of the wastewater treatment technology and its proper applications. Many CPOF in Indonesia have not a good wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). In fact they cause terribly environmental problems, especially related to surface water pollution. BOD content in the effluent of most CPOF is between 35,000 to 46,000 ppm and in the effluent of their WWTP it is much more than 100 ppm. Therefore it needs to propose a treatment system which can guarantee to reduce all pollutants till a value matching with the environmental quality standard. Based on the research result assessed by BPPT, an ideal WWTP suitable for CPOF is promoted to be considered as one very good alternative which is better applied for all CPOF in Indonesia. The stages and processes are showed in the second figure.Ideal treatment, CPOF wastewaterP. Nugro Rahardjo
